Needle felted bunny!

Today has been a very exciting day!

This morning I proudly gave a little brown box with grass green bow to Pete! with a little booklet about what was inside!!

You see Pete and his wife used to have the pleasure of owning a gorgeous little grey-blue bunny (with cutest big ears ever from the photo he sent me). Sadly their bunny died but being the loving husband that Pete is and knowing that I create needle felted bunnies he ordered one from me to give to his wife as a surprise birthday gift in loving memory of their beloved pet.

So, for the past week and a half I have spent many hours prodding with my needles (though very enjoyable knowing this little bunny will go to a loving home!) and have created a little bundle of grey-blue wool fluff with heaps of character.

Pete was delighted (phew) with his new purchase and his wife will be opening that little brown box this evening.. can’t wait to hear what she says 🙂

So after keeping this one under wraps (although sending hints via facebook and twitter about what he may look like)……here he is!!

I hope you like him!!

Seems Pete was happy;

“I wanted something special for my wife and a nice memory of our late pet bunny.  I loved the idea of a handmade 100% wool product from ‘Fit to be loved’.  I provided Amanda with some photographs of our pet so she could style the bunny.  I was absolutely blown away when I received the rabbit, the detail is amazing.  Amanda has a real talent for this.  She has taken the features of our bunny and made a beautiful little sculpture full of character.  He is adorable and I’m sure he will be treasured by my wife.  I would strongly recommend ‘Fit to be loved’.  The quality and detail are simply wonderful.  And don’t worry Amanda, he will be looked after in a good home.”

He is handmade with 100% wool.

His core is made of natural undyed Corriedale wool from New Zealand. His fur and detail on his cute bunny paws, ears and face are of soft merino wool (non-mulesed) from South Africa (Cape) – charcoal, petrol, mink, raven and coral. I used coarser wools in orange and grass green for his carrot to contrast with his soft body.

Let me know if you would like to order one just like him for a treat for yourself or as a gift for a loved one. I can make him in a different colour of your choice and he can be laying down like this one or sitting or standing. On to my next project!
